One by one they all left, like migratory birds on the journey south, each taking a moment to look back and take in the ambience one final time. The light outside profiled them against the darkness inside. They stood like solemn sentinels keeping guard over some hidden truth. I was in a corner, my territorial integrity intact from their invisible stares. Their extremities twitched and twirled from some internal rhythm. Or was it a new nervousness on their part? Perhaps they thought that I would leave my corner and claim more of the space outside. Or perhaps they feared that I would find the truth they had been hiding all along. I did not care for the answers. I was content just to sit there and observe their individual coronae visible in the momentary eclipse of detail and shadow.

I don't know if it's my very literal mind, biased by the knowledge that you are a scientist, but I seem to be seeing a connection between what you posted earlier - "Total Control" and this one - "Sentinels" - a truth not necessarily being concealed but not yet revealed for the repercussions it may have? I don't know, but it is very interesting to read your work here on Caferati. I also always enjoy the chiaroscuro like references in all you writing.
Pragya: Thats a very interesting observation you made! I had not connected them like that (kind of makes me think its good to display what you write as people reading might come up with an observation about your work which you never realized). But in this case there is no concious connection between the different posts you refer to, unconciously; hmm...I leave it for you to decide :). And thank you very much for your nice words. They are inspiring!
