All My Energy
To defy father, church and pseudo-culture
To have you,
And if I do
It will then take all my energy
To keep you as you are today,
Or change you,
Whatever suits me then, and
It will take all my energy
To keep you mine,
To keep me I,
All my life, so
I rather talk to you long-distance,
Sleep with you once a year,
Or whenever, though
It will take all my energy.

How deliciously cynical!
And how deliciously marvellous too! Like it a lot, Alex, I do :)
And deliciously true too. I like it as well. Look forward to your posts:)

it moved some corners of my being.

Your poem struck a chord deep inside. I've read it numerous times but can't say anything else about it. While reading it I had to just force the expression 'all my energy' like a kid trying to blow a bubble gum. I wonder what it is about some poems that makes you read it out in a particular way.
