I Shouldn't Have
After aeons of pacing barefoot
On cold spaces, counting squares,
That numbers bring no sleep but
A countdown to crash and burn.
I should've known better
After hours spent in silent darkness
And fears translated to silent screams,
That words spoken bring no relief but
Cause friends to fall apart.
I should've known better
Than to drag your head to this shell
To listen to raging seas
That splinter words
And ruptures your eardrum.
